Alternative choices for parents about their children's learning

Alternative choices:

  • Reading materials: new writer trash or traditional and helpful
  • Give parents a reading list for opposing ways of thinking and growing children
  • Reading methods: Traditional or New Age? Phonics or Whole Language
  • Word understanding: close approximation or study a detailed dictionary for meanings and origin
  • Handwriting: require form and beauty and clarity or accept sloppiness
  • Math: New math or traditional methods
  • History: Foundation documents and stories or skip that and just do current events with no foundations

TRASH READING MATERIALS: New authors tend to have grown up without learning the tradtional values, so all they can do is pass on more of the trash values under which they were raised. You don't want that for your children. The library shelves are crammed with new books full of trash ideas for your children to absorb.

Examples of trash titles offered to me and my children:
1. Dick and Jane, 1949 for 1st grade reading, meatless and useless
2. Animorphs, The Invasion by K.A. Applegate, published by Scholastic. Telling children they have the power to morph into any animal they choose. Other Scholastic books told little girls they morphed from and into snakes.
3. Teen-age delinquents
4. class room leader inciting others to get rid of the teacher
5. Upside Down School House
6. Go evaluate the offered reading material in your child's school library. You'll find 70% of them are trash.
Just evaluate the books for yourself. Or would you like to have other parents and pastors help you do this huge task? Then send us an email

How important is the foundation you lay in a child's mind. See Isaiah 7:15 Words, stories and ideas are food that take root in the heart and shape the soul.
